Spectral analysis of field potential recordings in an epilepsy model
In vivo recordings from implanted multi-electrode arrays create large data sets and the spectral analysis of these data sets is time- and memory-demanding, in particular when done on conventional computers.
This prohibits the analysis of very large data sets or prevents a parallel analysis of multiple data sets as well as channels within a single data set. Within this Tiger Team, the Matlab-based analysis of these data set was realized on the bwForCluster NEMO. Moreover, the NEMO framework permitted the extension of the data analysis to computations across multiple electrodes and data sets. The results of these analysis were published in a paper (Kilias et al., 2018).
Finally, the successful employment of the NEMO/HPC framework encouraged other members of the Laboratory for Biomicrotechnology to migrate memory consuming data analysis, such as seizure evaluation or of high density recordings from cell cultures, to NEMO.
