Image Preprocessing for the "Lessico Etimologico Italiano"
The project "Lessico Etimologico Italiano" was established in 1976 to document and analyze the entire vocabulary of the Italian language. When it concludes, it will constitute the world's largest dictionary. The project requires large computational resources for optical character recognition and the pre-processing of old documents in digital form. The aim of the Tiger Team was to enable a parallel containerized workflow for cropping and processing a large number of image-files in PDF-form.
